Congratulations to the Linlithgow Reds 7s squad who played some cracking rugby to win all 5 matches in their successful defence of the Mains Park Trophy.

You can read all about the Men’s and Women’s Tournaments (including all the scores and results) in a separate article.

The Reds were outstanding from first tie to the final, with every squad player contributing to the tournament win.

Standing from left: Murray Johnstone (honorary team manager), Ruaridh Stewart, Jamie Tulloch, Calum Lindsay, Jack Frame, Alfie Muir, Ross Plenderleith and Lewis McGill. Kneeling from left: Ross Tulloch, Archie Rusack, Euan Mochrie, Aiden Rennison (capt), Euan McCartney and Alex Hall.

The squad, which featured only three forwards – Euan Mochrie, Jamie Tulloch and Lewis McGill – showed great overall fitness and bags of pace throughout the tournament. In defence they were resolute, hunting down opponents, while in attack they showed much skill and teamwork, allied to individual brilliance. Tournament MVP was flyer Alex Hall (pictured below), but in reality the award could have gone a number of the Reds squad.

For the record, the Reds’ results were:

Pool Matches
Linlithgow Reds 36 – 0 GHK Rugby
Linlithgow Reds 27 – 10 Napier University
Linlithgow Reds 31 – 0 Misfits

Semi-Final
Linlithgow Reds 39 – 19 Stoneyhill Supers

Final
Linlithgow Reds 29 – 5 Edinburgh Accies
