Playing Days
Most matches are scheduled on Saturday mornings, usually with a 10am or 10-30am kick-off time. Occasional matches are played on Sundays usually with an early afternoon kick-off time. Timings and locations communicated by the coaches.
Strength and Conditioning Options
Youth players in u16 and u18 squads have the opportunity to enhance their membership with one of two Strength and Conditioning programmes, which will be run by a fully qualified S&C Instructor. As this incurs an additional direct cost, so the subscription rate is increased to cover the extra costs.
PERF 1 : represents one S&C session each week for the season
PERF 2 : represents two S&C sessions per week for the season
Graham McCorkell (Director of Youth Rugby) will speak to all youth players about these options.
Law Variations
Rugby is now played to the laws of the full adult game, with a few minor variations:
The game is played over a maximum of 70 minutes, usually 2 x 35 minute periods,
Scrums can only travel 1.5 metres and wheel through 45 degrees,
Defending scrum halves cannot advance beyond the halfway point of a scrum until the scrum is over.
