Linlithgow 2s 46 – 5 Edinburgh Northern 2s
Saturday 24 October 2026
Edinburgh Northern stepped in at short notice after the Reds 2s league opponents, Watsonians, withdrew from the scheduled match, citing “unable to raise a team”. Big shout-out to the Edinburgh Northern 2s who travelled out to Linlithgow and made a very favourable impression, displaying true rugby values both on and off the pitch.
The match was played in atrocious conditions on a pitch that held up well and hats off to the Reds 2s who implemented a good rugby strategy on the day to control ball and territory, while still moving the ball well.

Comment
While it was disappointing that for the third time this season, the Reds 2s opposition have been unable to raise a team, it was great to see Edinburgh Northern stepping in and sending their 2s through to Linlithgow. We have a very young team – many only recently graduated from our u18s – and they need matches like this to further develop their skills under what proved difficult conditions.
Chapeaux to both teams and a big thanks to the ref!
