The Linlithgow Reds P7s produced a fantastic display of rugby to lift the trophy at the Penicuik Tournament, finishing the day unbeaten. Despite the challenging small pitches, which demanded some direct running and hard tackling, the Reds adapted brilliantly, scoring 20 tries across five matches on their way to tournament success. Their results saw them overcome Portobello (2-1), Peebles (3-0), Dalkeith (7-0), hosts Penicuik (4-2) and Lasswade (4-1).

Although it was a West Lothian holiday weekend, the Reds still managed to bring along a large squad, highlighting the strength and enthusiasm within the group. It was great to see how keen all the boys were to get onto and stay on the pitch, especially as winning the tournament got closer game by game.

The day was made even more special by seeing Jack and Nate play their first ever games for Linlithgow. Both boys threw themselves into the action with real enthusiasm and were fantastic additions to the squad throughout the tournament.

Also a big shout out and thank you to Olly, Archie, Hamish and Brodie for putting on Portobello and Dalkeith tops, when our opponents were short of numbers.

The tournament was packed with memorable moments, including some truly outrageous try celebrations by Zac, Kian, Angus, Finlay and Keelan, brilliantly captured by Julen’s Dad, our team photographer.

The biggest cheers came at the presentation ceremony, when captain Anthony proudly stepped forward to lift the winners’ trophy on behalf of the team. The smiles said it all. It was brilliant to see the boys enjoying their rugby so much.
