Lenzie U16 10–66 Linlithgow U16
Linlithgow U16 got their pre-season underway on Saturday with a positive first run-out away to Lenzie.
After navigating the journey and a slightly unexpected trek through the woods to find the pitch, the boys were delighted to get back on the field after their first couple of weeks of pre-season training.
Lenzie were unfortunately short on numbers, so a number of Linlithgow players stepped across throughout the morning to ensure we had two full sides and everyone got plenty of rugby.
The game was played over three 20-minute periods and the opening third provided a particularly encouraging glimpse of what the squad has been working on in training. There was real structure to the attacking play, with the ball moving quickly through the hands and some excellent team tries being created and finished.

As the game progressed, players moved between the two sides and combinations changed regularly. Despite that, the intensity remained high and it was great to see the strength and depth developing across the U16 squad.
The final score finished Lenzie U16 10–66 Linlithgow U16, but at this stage of pre-season the biggest positives were getting valuable minutes into the boys’ legs and seeing elements from training transfer onto the pitch.

Player of the Match went to Charlie Doga, who produced a high-intensity performance at No.8 and helped drive the team forward throughout the game.

There is plenty still to work on as we build towards the start of the Conference season, but this was a really positive first outing.
A massive well done to everyone involved, with a special mention to all the boys who stepped across and played for Lenzie during the morning. They approached it brilliantly and helped make sure everyone got a competitive game.
Great to be back.
