On Saturday the Linlithgow 7s squad travelled through to Haddington to participate in Haddington Rugby Clubs Centenary 7s competition.
It was a straight knockout competition and Linlithgow were scheduled to play Dunbar at 15.30pm
Dunbar kicked off and were quickly on the offensive before Linlithgow won the ball back and Eddie Beamish ran in a try between the posts which he converted himself.
Dunbar were not to be outdone and quickly scored a converted try.
Linlithgow won the ball back after the kick off. As Jamie Tulloch raced for the touch line he was brought down just short of the line, only to stretch over to score an unconverted try.
Linlithgow quickly regained possession after the restart and won the ball in midfield. The ball was passed to Calum Lindsay who sprinted down the pitch for dived over in the corner to score an unconverted try.
Halftime: Linlithgow 17 – 7 Dunbar
Linlithgow kicked off the second half and Dunbar ran the ball back at them, which the Reds defended relentlessly. The ball was moved up the park and Linlithgow scored a converted try. Dunbar quickly replied scoring an unconverted try.
Play was bouncing back and forward between both teams with all the players making great tackles. The game was in the last minute when Jamie Tulloch passed to Archie Rusack who was in open space just past the half way line, he darted past the defence touching down and converting the try.
Final Score: Linlithgow 29 – 12 Dunbar
Next game was the quarter final against Musselburgh at 16.50 (bit of a wait).
Musselburgh kicked off and Alfie Muir took the ball well in the air. Linlithgow ran the ball forward but couldn’t get past the Musselburgh defence. The game was being played in midfield at pace with both teams giving it their all. Eventually Musselburgh found a gap and sneaked through to score a converted try just before half time.
Linlithgow 0 – 7 Musselburgh
Linlithgow kicked off the second half and played lots of good rugby putting in lots of hard tackles and running the ball forward. Musselburgh were just too strong and ran in another two tries. Linlithgow kept going until the end. Despite Musselburgh going down to six players Linlithgow couldn’t capitalise on this.
Final Score: Linlithgow 0 – 19 Musselburgh
