New Season Kicks Off!

If you look at the photo above, featuring another fine break by Jamie Tulloch, you’d be forgiven for thinking that the new tackle height law trial had yet to start! No wonder the ref had a busy day!

It was a great start to the new season last weekend and the Clubhouse was jumping! Saturday  featured two rugby events on the top pitch – a Walking Rugby Festival hosted by the Vintage Reds and the first pre-season game for the Reds with a squad run out against Cumbernauld – while AFL Scotland were playing out their women’s and men’s Aussie Rules Grand Finals on Lower Mains Park.

Then on Sunday, the Wee Reds Micros and Minis held their opening training day and then the Young Reds had four fixtures (two home, two away) against West of Scotland. In between we held an All-Club photoshoot, followed by the presentation of Club ties to incoming S1 squad just before their first Young Reds match against West of Scotland. Club captain Jack Frame was on hand to present each player with their own tie.

Registration Weekend

The new online membership system will go “live” on Saturday and we will be sending out a special newsletter to give you information and links to get you and/or your family registered. We will also be holding an open session in the Clubhouse on Sunday 27th August between 10-30am and 1pm to explain in person about our membership system and to answer any queries and to help people with their registrations. 

Please note that ALL members, including Life and Honorary Members, will need to renew their membership online.

Also at our open session on Sunday, we will have a Club merchandise stall (see below), plus our own second-hand kit and boot sale, with all proceeds going to support youth rugby at the Rugby Club. If you have any reasonable quality items you no longer require, please bring them along and we can add them to our stock for sale.

For those new or relatively new to the Club, we will have a number of people on-hand to answer questions. These will include Carly Calder (Wee Reds Micros Coordinator), Dougie Thomson (Club’s Rugby Development Manager) and Ken Richardson (Club Secretary). 

Club Merchandise

Our merchandising partner, Border Embroidery, will be on site this Sunday between 11am and 1pm. They will have a range of kit to try on for sizes, prior to placing an order, in addition to a range of rugby and sports items for sale, including stock clearance material at knock-down prices! Andrew will be on hand to handle any queries regarding merchandise and the ordering process.

Tiny Reds to Resume on Saturday 02 September

The new season of Tiny Reds will kick off on Saturday 02 September with Adam Scott at 10am. The sessions are aimed at pre-school 3 and 4 year olds and parents are encouraged to participate! Mature 2 year olds are also welcome! It’s a fun 45 minutes each Saturday morning.
